The Wreck of the Delaware

On a stormy and very rainy day the Delaware boat was coming to shore. It was about one hundred metres to the shore and they couldn’t get back to home because the waves were crashing after crunching the whole time. So Henry Squirrell tied a rope to his waist and climbed on the rope but the waves smashed him against the rocks.

Just at that time, Huria Matenga opened her curtains. She saw Henry Squirrell crashing against the rocks. She quickll ran to tell her husband Hemi and Hohepata, their friend. They got a rope and tied it to a rock and to the ship so everyone could climb across the rope and then to shore. In the meantime the sailors were trying to help Henry Squirrell but they couldn’t so they laid him in the bunk by himself.

A couple of minutes later Huria and Hemi were swimming in the fierce waves.

How the Kiwi Lost its Wings

Long, long ago Kiwi was in the top of the trees and had beautiful colours on his body. He had heaps of friends. Then Rane Mahuta was walking ahead. That minte he saw a plague of insects. He was devastated to see that.
Tane Mahuta had to ask Cuckoo to live on the forest floor.
“Sorry Tane. I’m building a nest. I can’t leave it.”
After, Tane asked Morepork.
He said, “I love the light. I can’t go on the dark forest floor.”
Then Tane asked Tui and he said, “I’m afraid of what enemies I’ll have.”
“Pukeko, will you?”
“No Tane. I like to keep my feet fry.”
Finally he asked Kiwi. “Yes Tane, I will.”
After, Tane Mahuta said to Morepork, “You will never live in the light. You will always fly to the darkest places in the forest.”
“Tui, you will always heve the mark of the coward.”
“Pukeko, you like to keep your feet dry. From now you will live in the swamp and get your feet wet.”
“Kiwi, you did a good thing but you will lose your beautiful colours.
From that day kiwi still stays on the ground.

Weekend fun

On the weekends I went to the trolley derby and I got a regular slushy for $3 then I mostly drunk it! I got rainbow flavour. It was yummy. After that I saw Alex .We went over to the balloons and we got alien crowns then we went to the shop I got an ice chocolate and Alex got a lift plus. We ran back to Alex's mum and my dad and he said ask your dad if you can come to my house. I said wait. then after the race finished I asked my dad and he said well OK. That minute I went to Alex's house and played halo 2. After that we had pizza and fries. After that we played clever bot on the computer so then we went skim boarding. We came back and had a shower. Finally they dropped me off home.

Clean Streams

CLEAN STREAMS

For the the last 2 weeks we have been studying about clean streams. We're learning about microinvertebrates. On the first week we went to the Maitai River with sieves and ice cream containers. We had to play a game. You had to catch all of them on the sheet. Alex and I caught all of them on the list. At the end of all of it we had to let them go. What I have learned about microinvertebrates is that some hate living in dirty water and some hate living in clean. What's up with that?
